Salterra has several resort pools, the largest of which has a beautiful view overlooking Salterra Beach.

Salterra Resort & Spa is the newest resort in the Turks and Caicos, and is part of The Luxury Collection group of exclusive international Marriott properties. The 100-room resort is located on beautiful Salterra Beach, and is the only property on this secluded coast.

All rooms at Salterra Resort & Spa are oceanview, with a breathtaking vista over the beach, the barrier reef, and the rugged Fish Rock. Choose from one or two bedrooms, one or two-bedroom suites, or the penthouse suite.

The resort's ambiance is inspired by the island’s sea salt industry past, which saw South Caicos as the country’s largest producer of salt. Today, the salinas are no longer worked and are the domain of birds. Caribbean flamingos, reddish egrets, tri-colored herons, stilts, and much more can be seen foraging for the tiny mollusks and shrimp that live in the pastel shades of pink and orange brine.

Salterra Resort & Spa is also perfect for events. The resort can host and help arrange weddings, corporate retreats and meetings, and other special events.

Regatta and Cobo Bar & Grill will provide a refreshing and laid-back (yet elegant) setting for dining and drinks. Sights, Activities, and Attractions

Flamingos in the ocean

South Caicos is an exceptional destination for those who appreciate the outdoors. The island only has limited development, and is located on the convergence of the Caicos Banks, tidal wetlands and marine flats, and the depths of the Turks Islands Passage that separates the Turks Islands group from the Caicos Archipelago. With such a location of contrasting environments, wildlife density and the coastal and marine landscapes are unparalleled.

The waters off South Caicos are home to stunning reefs, which are perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. Fishing is likewise excellent for deep-sea sport fishing, bottom fishing, and flats fishing. The channel cays to the north of South Caicos are one of the finest locations in the country for kayaking and paddleboarding. Here, small sandy cays, red mangrove creeks, sandbars, and bay reefs together form a breathtaking environment.

Boat charters are also a must-do. Visit snorkeling reefs, remote beaches, and the beautiful uninhabited islands of Long Cay, Fish Cay, or even Little Ambergris Cay.

Bonefishing in the flats of the Caicos Banks and tidal creeks to the north and west of South Caicos is world-class, at locations near Hog Cay, East Caicos, and Middle Caicos. It’s not just bonefish that can be found, as permit, barracuda, and the occasional tarpon and snook can also be hooked.

The resort provides a range of boat trips, water sports experiences, and fishing charters through their Adventures by Salterra center.

There are sites and vistas on land, too. The Boiling Hole is an interesting underwater cave feature that once fed ocean water into the salt salinas. School for Field Studies offers a perspective on reef conservation and growing coral for reintroduction to the wild. Cycling in the quiet streets of Cockburn Harbour, a little settlement that depends on small-scale fishing, is another activity. Hiking and exploring nature and remote beaches is of course also well worth the experience.

The wild and remote tidal creeks and Caicos Banks near South Caicos are unmatched for bonefishing.   Bottom right:  Top right:  The incredible channels and sand bars at Plandon Cay Cut on the northern end of South Caicos.

Committed to Conservation

Salterra Resort & Spa has a strong commitment to protecting the unique and beautiful environment of the Turks and Caicos, and has contributed to a number of conservation projects in the islands, from coral restoration work in partnership with The School for Field Studies and the South Caicos Coral Reef Consortium to facilitating national Caribbean flamingo counts via aerial survey. The environment of the Turks and Caicos is special, and Salterra Resort & Spa wants to keep it that way.
