Need to buy Advil or fill a local prescription? There are several pharmacies where you can buy over-the-counter and prescription medications on Providenciales. These pharmacies are generally well-stocked and carry many of the same brands and labels as their counterparts do in the U.S. Prices are often quite reasonable.
Pharmacies on Providenciales
Providenciales is home to several pharmacies. Two are within walking distance of the beachfront resorts on Grace Bay Road (Grace Bay Pharmacy and Flamingo Pharmacy).
Over-the-counter medications like allergy pills, pain relievers, motion sickness pills, anti-itch creams, and cough medicine are readily available. So are sunscreen, lotions, and toiletries. Some pharmacies also carry cosmetics.
Regardless of what you are shopping for, expect to see a smaller range of products than what you would find at your local pharmacy back home. You can purchase basic medications and supplies at Graceway IGA on Leeward Highway and Graceway Gourmet.
Pharmacies on Grand Turk and Other Islands
Grace Bay Pharmacy (Grand Turk) is the only pharmacy located on the capital island. It sells general health supplies and medications. For urgent care outside of business hours, visit the Cockburn Town Medical Centre on Grand Turk. There are no pharmacies on North Caicos, Middle Caicos, or South Caicos.
Pharmacy Hours
Most pharmacies on Provo are open from Monday to Saturday during regular business hours. There are no 24-hour pharmacies, and most pharmacies are closed on Sunday or only open for half a day. If you urgently need medication outside of typical pharmacy hours, contact an emergency care provider.
Grace Bay Medical Center near Graceway Gourmet is the closest urgent care center for visitors staying in Grace Bay. Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on Providenciales also offers acute care.
Traveling to Turks and Caicos With Prescription Medications
Baggage delays do happen, so keep important medicines in your hand luggage, not a checked bag. If you are traveling with prescription drugs, make sure to bring your doctor’s prescription and store your medicine in its original packaging to avoid confusion at customs. Do not bring medical cannabis or medications containing THC or CBD. These substances are prohibited, even with a doctor's note. Persons who attempt to import drugs, including cannabis and marijuana, are subject to a 5-year sentence and a fine of up to $75,000.
