The actual beach here is quite nice, but the real attraction of the area is the exquisite landscapes off of the nearby bluffs and hills. Road access is limited, so be prepared to hike a little and take drinking water.
5-star rating for Plandon Cay Cut Beach by Visit Turks and Caicos Islands
The soft marine limestone bluffs of Plandon Cay Cut Beach.

Situated on the extreme point of the northern peninsula of South Caicos, this beach and scenic coastal area is certainly a contender for the finest landscape in the Turks and Caicos.

From the high ground, it’s possible to see the turquoise shallows of Bell Sound and the small uninhabited Plandon Cay, Sail Rock Island, Middle Creek Cay, McCartney Cay, and East Caicos. Only a single man-made structure stands in this vista to the north—a barely visible chimney from a loyalist-era plantation on the remote Hog Cay.

The Beach

Found on the eastern side of the peninsula is Plandon Cay Cut Beach. A ridge of low sandstone bluffs line the coast, and beautiful white sand beaches are interspersed between the cliff outcroppings. At low tide, the majority of these beaches become connected.

There are no snorkeling reefs in the area.

The LORAN Station

Above the beach is the decommissioned and abandoned US Coast Guard LORAN station. Built in the 1950s, this site was part of a radio wave navigation system network that was widely used before the introduction of satellite GPS.

Getting Here

Although this region is the single most remote spot on South Caicos, navigating to Plandon Cay Cut is rather straightforward.

Take the unpaved road that follows the north banks of the central salina. You’ll know you’re on the right route if you cross a low bridge culvert and begin to follow the edge of Bell Sound. After passing the Sailrock Resort site, continue on the same road for about 3 miles (4.8 km). The road doesn’t terminate directly at the beach, and you may have to walk a few hundred feet to get to the coast.
