The South Caicos Ferry

Heaving Down Rock Marina (Walkin Marina), Providenciales
South Caicos ferry boat
The South Caicos Ferry.

Operated by Captain Russel , this small passenger ferry service travels between Providenciales and South Caicos. It typically makes one round trip per day. The ferry departing South Caicos leaves at about 9:00 AM, and the ferry departing Providenciales leaves at about 3:00 PM. Given the schedule, it is not possible to do a day trip to South Caicos if traveling via ferry.

The ferry vessel is a smaller boat with seating for about 10 people. Tickets are $80 one way or $130 return and may be purchased at the boat prior to departure. Departure times can vary by an hour or two. So can transit—while the journey usually takes under two hours, it depends on the weather.

The Caribbean Cruisin' TCI Ferry once operated a Providenciales–South Caicos ferry service, but has since ceased service to the island. They still operate the Providenciales–North Caicos ferry service.

The only other scheduled passenger transit option between the two islands is via airplane.
