Want to drive a sports car on water? Jet Cars Turks is a water sports company that rents jet cars—watercraft designed to look like sports cars—on Providenciales. The watercraft come in orange, green, and yellow, and have a Lamborghini-style look. They can reach speeds of 45 to 55 mph (72 to 89 km/h).

Driving a jet car is similar to driving a vehicle. Like real cars, jet cars have a gas pedal and a steering wheel, as well as comfortable seats. The mechanics of the jet car, on the other hand, is more like a jet ski. The watercraft is powered by a jet propulsion system that pushes the car along the ocean’s surface via a high-powered stream.

Tours with Jet Cars Turks depart from the Blue Haven Marina in Leeward. Each jet car holds a maximum of two passengers. You must show a valid driver's license and be 18 years or older to operate the jet car, and children must be 6 years old or older to be a passenger.

Jet Car Tours

The company offers a social media package that allows you to get drone photos and videos from your jet car experience.

Jet Cars Turks has several tour packages you can choose from, ranging in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours. The company also offers a condensed, 15-minute drone photo and video package for tourists who want to forego the tour and get great social media photos nearshore instead.

If you want to explore nearby beaches and points of interest, you’ll want to book a one-hour or two-hour jet car tour. Led by a guide on a jet ski, these tours take you to the interesting sights off eastern Providenciales, including the La Famille Express shipwreck and Half Moon Bay, a beautiful beach with Turks and Caicos Islands rock iguanas. While these tours don’t include photography and videography, you can select this option as an add-on.

Tours include the jet car rental, a briefing on how to drive the watercraft, and a tour guide. Life jackets and goggles, as well as bottled water upon arrival, are provided by the company.

Jet car tours in the Turks and Caicos are weather dependent. Tours are rescheduled where possible if it’s raining, or are otherwise refunded.

What to Bring

You’ll want to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from sea spray. While jet cars keep you relatively dry, it’s worth wearing a bathing suit or clothes you don’t mind getting wet. Plus, you'll need a bathing suit to swim in the shallows off Pine Cay and Half Moon Bay, areas where Jet Cars Turks tours often visit.

Sunscreen is important, too, as the jet cars do not provide shade.

Of course, you’ll want to bring a phone or camera. Bringing a dry bag or waterproof case for your devices is a good idea. The company also recommends wearing water shoes.
