Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands — The Providenciales International Airport is extending its operating hours by two hours as of November 1. Previously open from 6 AM to 8 PM, the airport will now remain open from 6 AM to 10 PM daily.

"The TCIAA remains focused on supporting expanded air service and ensuring our airports are ready to meet the evolving needs of travelers and partners alike," announced the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) Sunday morning.

The change was made approximately a month before the Turks and Caicos Islands enters its high season for tourism. Currently, there are no regular flights landing at the airport after 8 PM, as airlines typically schedule flights around airport opening hours published in centralized databases. Extended hours could allow airlines to start offering later flights to the island of Providenciales.

The Providenciales International Airport (PLS)—also known as the Howard Hamilton International Airport—is the country's largest and primary airport, welcoming nearly all international flights to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Several upgrades have been made to the airport in recent years to expand its carrying capacity. Plans for redevelopment are ongoing, as the airport has experienced frequent overcrowding in recent years.
